C&O Canal

We started our day gathering supplies in downtown Hancock, MD
And got the Why R+ rear derailleur dialed in at the local bike shop
We jumped back onto the green tunnel and we were happy for the shade as it was a hot day
So hot....we even donned our Pearl Izumi arm sleeves
We took our first break who knows where but it was a nice spot
We were making great time and keeping our average speed up near 14 mph when we hit the PawPaw Tunnel Detour
We had to climb up and over what the tunnel goes through
We took our lunch at the top where there was a view but the detour took much of our speed and motivation
Oh...and the view that was not worth it
Now we were clearly behind schedule so we contacted a bike shop in Cumberland that offers shuttles to see if they could get us to Frostburg if we made it to Cumberland before they closed.  We raced as fast as we could and had a hell of a pull by one hell of a Hellbender

We passed lots of these
And we were very grateful for these as we were able to pour cold water over our heads

We rolled into Cumberland at 4:59 where our two new friends from The Cumberland Trail Connection, Parker and Steve, were there to take us...
To our sweet digs at the Allegheny Trail House in Frostburg
Parker recommended a local pizza place, LGs, where we crushed two pies and a few quarts of Coca-Cola
Socks and shoes are getting broken in as are the dawgs
Be well.  Until next time.

  2. You know there's an NCRN point right on top of that tunnel where you had lunch... Could've helped Hannah out!
