Susquehanna River

Day one is in the bag!  We are BEAT but doing well.  We crossed the Susquehanna River in Columbia, PA and high tailed it to the Holiday Inn Express in York where we are about to fall asleep.

We had a great send off from some Hellbenders friends...

and road towards the Enolla Low Grade Trail....

We road the new bridge at Safe Harbor 
Where we had our first Random Act of Kindness; I asked Henry how long it would be before someone asked us where we were going and within 2 seconds a guy named Dave asked just that!  He road the rest of the Enolla with us and thought the bridge we were heading to in Columbia may have been closed...which would have been our first BIG OOOPS!  So when we got to Dave's truck he told us he would drive up to the bridge to make sure it was open and if it wasn't he would come find us on the road and drive is across the Susquehanna River.  We road along and about 20 minutes later we saw Dave on the other side of the road waving us on and telling us the Columbia bridge was open!!  We yelled "WE LOVE YOU DAVE" and got a big smile 😊!

We crossed the bridge and made it to the west side of the river where we hammered out another few miles until we checked into the hotel.
We scarfed down some food at Hoss's Steak House

Socks and shoes are solid with some respect for Welch's ...
And we are now falling asleep.

Our last couple of rides were stunningly beautiful with a crisp on shore breeze.  We left the mountains but we could still see the snow covered peaks... We rode from Marblemount, WA along the Skagit River, West towards the Pacific... The forest was full of lichens and mosses... We hopped on a green tunnel in Concrete (Henry is in this photo)... That took us almost all the way to Burlington where we snuck into town on the levee... On our final, mostly ceremonial ride, we took a few back roads towards Anacortes... And quickly found ourselves riding along the ocean... We reached the bike path that takes you into town... We biked through town and made our way to the beach racing each other up the small hills when we came upon a wonderful surprise... Our friends The Maley's were at the beach with Tibetan Prayer flag...

Ione, WA

We got a relatively early start and hammered towards Ione, WA to keep trying to beat the heat.  We rode along the Pend Oreille River all morning... And peddled through the Kalispel Nation... Where there was a massive Pow Wow facility... While we were riding, Bonnie went for a run along Bear Lake... Towards the end of the ride the heat caught us... In dry eastern Washington... We arrived a little early in Ione and we were treated with snowmobiles racing across the lake....the ones making a wake in the midde are snowmobiles!!! The end of our adventure is fast approaching but maybe not fast enough for some of us...

Libby, MT

A little heat wave is hitting the Northwest and we certainly felt it on the ride into Libby, MT... We road the rest of the length of Lake Koocanusa... All the way to the Libby dam that created the lake... Where we met up with Bonnie and got some cold drinks before making our way to Libby... Here, Henry is letting me know what the best Gatorade flavor is and why and I think I finally get it... After the Libby Dam, we road along the Kootenai River... We were hot and exposed before getting to the City of Eagles, Libby, MT... And hiked out to these falls on the west side of town this am... Planning to hide from the heat and take a few rest days until it hopefully breaks on Monday...
