Youghiogheny

The day started with some critical rolling
And after a great breakfast of bananna oat pancakes, eggs, sausage, and home fries we said goodbye to Kramer
And Frostburg
and dropped onto the Great Allegheny Passage Trail
We headed towards Meyersdale on our way to Ohiopyle.  The GAP is MUCH nicer than the C&O as you gain elevation and the surface is perfectly graded.
We started with the climb to the Eastern continental divide where we said goodbye to the Chesapeake Bay watershed
Crossed the Mason Dixon line
And tunneled our way to the Mississippi and Gulf of Mexico watersheds

We had a snack at the historical society in Meyersdale where they are way more interested in railroad history than they are in the tens of thousands of bikers that stop for a snack.  We chatted with some nice folks and got the "Holy crap you are crazy" stare when we answered their questions about where we are heading.   They liked our gear though...and so do we!
We stopped for lunch in the angry little town of Rockwood where we ate 5 day old sandwiches from the Rock City Express gas station.  They did have bananas...those pesky bikers always buy those!

We road along the Casselman River
Where the cool, shaded areas support lots of Rhododendron and Hemlocks
We crossed the Casselman just outside of Confluence where it becomes the Youghiogheny

We rolled into our digs in Ohiopyle, got some take out, did some laundry, and applied liberal amounts of ointments.
