Cambridge, MN

We dropped in quickly to the St. Croix River valley first thing in the morning, sneaking through the Woolly Mammoth Trails...
We crossed the river into Taylor's Falls, Minnesota and climbed out of town heading North and West towards Cambridge...
We road on nice, flat roads with a rare, but we'll deserved wind that was not from our front or side.  We took advantage of it and hammered into Cambridge for a relatively short first day in Minnesota...

Fergus Falls, MN

The pictures from today are beautiful but this was probably the hardest ride we have had the entire adventure.  We pulled out of Alexandria.... Got back on the trail and headed northwest to Fergus Falls... It was great when we had the green tunnel but those stretches of trail were few and far between (we already miss the deciduous forest!)... And when we were not in the green tunnel we were totally exposed... We took a break in Dalton (the little blue dot above is us)...where the strapped down trash can was even blown over! And then headed back into the wall of wind... We did not even have to use our brakes to stop! We arrived in Fergus Falls totally spent... Having earned every foot of these 51.2 miles...

Anacortes, WA

Our last couple of rides were stunningly beautiful with a crisp on shore breeze.  We left the mountains but we could still see the snow covered peaks... We rode from Marblemount, WA along the Skagit River, West towards the Pacific... The forest was full of lichens and mosses... We hopped on a green tunnel in Concrete (Henry is in this photo)... That took us almost all the way to Burlington where we snuck into town on the levee... On our final, mostly ceremonial ride, we took a few back roads towards Anacortes... And quickly found ourselves riding along the ocean... We reached the bike path that takes you into town... We biked through town and made our way to the beach racing each other up the small hills when we came upon a wonderful surprise... Our friends The Maley's were at the beach with Tibetan Prayer flag
