Glacier National Park

We continued to make our way north and we were joined by Bonnie to officially start Phase III!!  It is like we sent Bonnie into the break away and she is there to support us through the mountains!
We staged at East Glacier Lodge which was an old school giant hotel right out of The Shining....
And you can take an Amtrak and walk from the station to the lodge...

On the way to the hotel we had our first great views of the Rockies...
And found some more rural art...
It seems to be mostly bears and bears on top of bears but I think ET is in there too!

We started the Going-to-the-Sun Road in St. Mary's...
And climbed towards Logan Pass through absolutely stunning mountain scenery...

We saw Columbian Ground Squirrels...
As we approached Logan Pass...
The descent was mostly terrifying and gave us even more appreciation for professional cyclists!!
We made it to the bottom in West Glacier after over 10 miles of descending...

  2. It looks like a wonderful trip. So envious! The scenery, the route chosen, changes in altitude and terrain are all inspiring. The smiling faces are the best. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us back in DE. Be well.
