Plover, WI

We made it from Manitowoc to Appleton yesterday and still had some issues with Henry's front tire so we went ahead and replaced it when we got into town at the Recyclist Bike Shop.

The ride was rolling hills on country roads...
We had a good breakfast in Manitowoc that included some smoothies...
And we were stocked up on road food after our stop at the bike shop that should get us 3 or so days down the road....
I also got some cool, new bottles...
We stayed along the Fox River in Appleton...
And got our usual start this morning heading towards Plover...
We passed Lawrence University on the way out of Appleton, another college visit checked off the list...
We continued rolling through rural Wisconsin on quite roads...

Where commodities like corn...
Wheat...
Soy...
And potatoes are grown in abundance...

We tried to get onto a rail trail heading towards New London but it is more of an idea than a reality at this point...
Once we got into town, we stopped along the Wolf River and had lunch at The Waters...
We met a very nice couple that had 5 kids, 15 Grand kids, and 13 great grand kids!!  Quite an evolutionary success!!  They were chatting us up about the trip and when we stood up to leave she looked at me and said "what happened to you, did they put a brick on your head?". Referencing the height difference between the two of us. She seemed so nice too!  Henry now has a new put down for his father.

We jumped on the Tomorrow River Trail in Manawa...
And rode it all the way to Plover, about 30 some miles from Manawa...
Which, if you've been following along, is long enough to listen to a Phish show!
Henry was listening to MF Doom

We've been thinking that we are getting into the North Country and today confirmed it when we saw this sign...
And a few miles down the trail found this bog full of tamarack...
And some Aspens...
We were on a long stretch of rural trail and we're running low on water so we stopped at this watering hole, The Lake Emily Inn, for a few cokes and water and gave the bar flys something to talk about...
Henry pulled me into Plover...
Where we showered and got dinner next door at the Happy Wok.  I enjoyed the large font size in the menu...
The stats...
