Ludington to Manitowoc
Before leaving Silver Lake the other morning we checked out the dunes that are advancing eastward from Lake Michigan up to a foot per year
Taking over the forest...
And houses... six houses have already been buried and this one is next....
Even with an agresive sand removal program the prognosis is not good.
We road over from our campsite without our bags and REALLY noticed a difference...but we were actually happy to be back on the road fully loaded after we broke down our campsite...
We took a break in Pentwater, MI
And road past a giant hydroelectric project with this example turbine...
And awesome descent into Ludington...
Henry had a tire problem awhile back from here and we were both telling ourselves it would be fine, but flying down this hill with a wind that was not from the front or side (wow!) caused the hole in the tire to open and spray out the sealant. He handled the loaded bike it like a pro and we stopped only once to pump some air into the tire and gently road into town, directly to the Trail Head Bike Shop...
Super nice folks at the bike shop that took the bike right in and called us about an hour later after we got into the Ludington Pier House hotel!
We got some food at Over the Moon...
And the Ludington park was very nice...
We stowed our bikes with the motorcycles
And headed to the upper decks...
It was the calmest day we have seen since 10 June...
We said so long to Ludington...
And settled in for the lake Michigan crossing...
And something weird happened to us all of a sudden...
We did recover before we landed but for awhile, it was very unsettling.
We were also feeling sad missing everyone, and especially Suzy and Jim...
The fog lifted as we docked in Manitowoc
And saw a great idea for a combo- research vehicle, housing, boating, and scootering machine...
Yep....that is a scooter in the boat...
We grabbed our bikes and made our way into town...
Waving to the Badger as we left...
Another great day. You got me with the camera game.
